A – Z is an Irish founded and run charity that provides everything under the sun for Ugandan orphaned and disadvantaged children. There are 2 million AIDS orphans and 110,000 children infected with HIV in Uganda.
A-Z ’s mission is to nurture the mental, physical and emotional growth and well being of Ugandan HIV/AIDS infected and affected orphans and vulnerable children by providing health care, education, food, clothing and shelter.
A-Z promotes the values of providing an enabling, physical and psychological environment that fosters growth and self-actualisation for the children to assume leadership roles, and have a positive impact on Ugandan society.
All A – Z activities, projects and fundraising are organised voluntarily, meaning that all funding raised gets to the children and projects that need the support. Brian Iredale founded A-Z Children's Charity almost 6 years ago after visiting Uganda while doing some voluntary work himself.
A-Z’s primary focus is to develop projects, which enable Ugandan children and their families, infected and affected by HIV/AIDS lead happy, healthy and productive lives. A-Z’s ultimate goal is to ensure that these families are given the opportunity to develop a sustainable future for themselves. A-Z provides business and loan management training, followed by a no-interest loan in order that these individuals can improve their business.
A –Z looks for volunteers both in Ireland and to work for a period of one month in Uganda. Many of the Ball committee members have volunteered working hands-on in Uganda on a number of occasions.
